Stranded climbers rescued on Mount Salak

OGOR: A group of six mountain climbers from Yogyakarta's Sunan Kalijaga Islamic University were evacuated on Sunday night from Mount Salak, Bogor, after being trapped for a week.

A rescue team found them alive on the slope of the mountain on Saturday, but failed to evacuate them until Sunday afternoon due to bad weather.

The weather started to clear in the evening, enabling the team to bring down the students.

"The students are in good condition. They are heading to *Bogor* city as we speak," head of the Gunung Halimun Salak National Park, Bambang Supriyanto, told The Jakarta Post on Sunday evening.

Supriyanto said the students took an unauthorized track from Curug Nangka, Bogor, to reach the mountain.
