JAKARTA: Central Jakarta administration has a tough fight on its hands to slow the spread of HIV cases in the municipality.
The recent data from the local AIDS Commission report the cases of HIV/AIDS have skyrocketed to around 400 new cases as of June 2010. This figure is much higher compared to 145 cases recorded in 2009.
Central Jakarta AIDS Commission secretary Amiruddin Holik said Sunday the cases may rise further this year as the commission had not yet verified all new information.
To prevent the number of cases from continuing to rise, the Central Jakarta AIDS Commission will work with the Jakarta AIDS Commission to hold road shows raising public awareness of the disease. - JP
