Lawmakers get official email accounts

J

AKARTA: Following an embarrassing incident during a recent trip to Australia, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Pramono Anung said Wednesday that each House member would get an official email account.

“We handed the accounts out yesterday,” Pramono said.

The move came after a video was posted on YouTube showing House members from Commission VIII providing the wrong email address to Indonesian students in Australia.

“Starting from next week, there will be no excuse for House members not to have an official House email address,” Pramono said.

According to Pramono, the House will have the email addresses printed on every member’s business card.

“It is mandatory that they put their House email address on their business card. If they want to put their personal email address too, that’s up to them,” he said. — JP
