“The President has the right to appoint and remove [judges]. As such, the President is the only person who can fire the two corruption court judges,” Djoko said on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Two judges at the ad hoc Semarang Corruption Court, Kartini Marpaung and Heru Kisbandono, were arrested after allegedly accepting more than Rp 100 million (US$10,500) in bribes on Friday.
Djoko said that the Supreme Court, which oversees the nation’s judiciary, could recommend that the President fire the judges at the end of legal proceedings.
