rosecutors are seeking the death sentence for the alleged killers of Husen Komara Mintarja, the security chief of Red Guard.
In a court session presided over by judge Setyabudi Tejo Cahyono, a prosecutor with the municipal prosecutor’s office, Darwis Burhamsyah, asked the panel of judges to punish Husen’s ex-wife Ingrid Gunawan, and Agustinus Othniel Maitimu, with the death penalty because they had allegedly masterminded the killing.
He alleged the two had met in April and during the meeting Agustinus proposed to kill Husen. After allegedly agreeing, Ingrid said she was prepared to pay Rp 200 million (US$20,866) for her husband’s life and then paid Rp 10 million and gave a new cellular phone to Agustinus as a down-payment. Weeks later, but still before the killing, Ingrid handed over goods amounting to Rp 110 million as further payment for the planned murder, said Darwis.
Agustinus then allegedly paid Rp 2 million to Dadang Solihin who used Hendi Mulyadi to carry out the killing.
Dadang and Hendi stood trial in a separate session with the same team of prosecutors from the municipal attorney office. According to Hendy’s dossier, he accepted Dadang’s offer of Rp 5 million to stab the victim to death.
Darwis said that Ingrid, who had previously given a photograph of her ex-husband to Hendi, had asked both her husband and Hendi to come to her boutique on Jl. Capt. Tendean on May 4.
In a scenario different from the one thought to have been initially envisaged, Agustinus then allegedly arrived at Ingrid’s residence with a FN hand gun and fired two shots into the victim’s chest and neck, killing Husen, and afterward informing both Hendi and Dadang of the killing.
At a separate court session, prosecutors also demanded a death sentence for Dadang and Hendi because they allegedly plotted to kill the Husen.
The court sessions were adjourned until Oct. 3 to hear the defendants’ cases.
