Indonesian world featherweight champions Chris 'The Dragon' John and Daud 'Chino' Yordan are confident of defending their titles once again.
Undefeated Super Champion WBA featherweight Chris will fight against the world's sixth-ranked Satoshi 'Bazooka' Hosono of Japan, while IBO champion Daud is set to face Simphiwe 'V12' Vetyeka of South Africa at the Senayan Tennis Indoor Arena in Central Jakarta, on Sunday.
'I'm glad to be fighting in Jakarta and I will surely make my country proud of me once again,' Chris said during a press conference on Friday.
He said he had made all the necessary preparations for his 51st fight, with a record of 48 wins, 0 loses and 2 draws.
'I haven't set a target for the fight but I won't waste any opportunity to knock out my opponent,' said the 33-year-old, who hopes to quit boxing when he reaches 35.
Chris added his opponent would face his signature 'dragon' punches.
Hosono said he had not made special preparations to fight Chris as he always practiced, whether or not he was fighting.
'Chris is a great fighter, so I will do my best to defeat him,' he said.
Hosono is a two-time WBA challenger with a 23-2 record, with the defeats coming from fights against Celestino 'Pelenchin' Caballero of Panama and Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym of Thailand.
Meanwhile Daud, 25, seemed composed despite a provocative statement from Nick Durandt, Vetyeka's coach, who said 'I'm sure he [Vetyeka] can crush you'.
Durandt added that Vetyeka, with a 24-2 record, would not be distracted by Daud's supporters. 'In the ring there are only two of you'.
Daud, whose current record is 32 fights, 29 wins, 2 losses, 0 draws and 1 no contest, responded by calmly saying he would let his fighting do the talking.
He will defend his IBO world featherweight belt for the second time.
The Sunday fights will be aired live by RCTI and will start at 9:30 p.m.
