ambi governor Hasan Basri Agus unveiled that the South Korean government has agreed to build a steam power plant (PLTU) in Tebo regency, Jambi. The agreement, he said, resulted from his visit to the countryearlier this month.
'€œThis is a G to G cooperation but the project will be carried out in Jambi,'€ hesaid.
The power plant is expected to be able to produce 400 megawatts of electricity.
Hasan and his entourage were invited to South Korea to meet South Korea officials Ahn Hang Joon and Man Woo of the South Korean National Assembly.During the visit, Hasan also met with the management of Daewoo, a heavy industry company, and Kosep (Korea South-East Power), a group of investment companies that will construct the plant.
The South Korean companies became interested in the project in 2009.
Besides the Tebo steam power plant, Jambi is also in the middle of constructing other power plants, such as the Kerinci water power plant (PLTA), a gas power plant at the Gelam River, and a geothermal power plant at the Penuh River. (nai/dic)
