N

orth Sulawesi trade and industry agency head, Olvie Atteng, says the province has exported 8,000 tons of crude coconut oil (CCO) to the Netherlands.

'€œThis has generated US$9.6 million of foreign reserves,'€ Olvie said in Manado on Saturday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

The agency head said the exports were to meet the country'€™s demand for the product, which has been continuously increasing.

Olvie said the Netherlands was known as the marketing center of North Sulawesi'€™s various prime commodities in the Europe and, currently, demand growth was high for commodities such as CCO.

It is said that, despite the increases, North Sulawesi is still managing to meet demand due to the presence of four big CCO manufacturing companies in the province. They are located in Bitung City and in Amurang in the South Minahasa regency.

The agency'€™s head of foreign trade, Feby Karambut, said CCO was one of North Sulawesi'€™s prime commodities and had always dominated realized export figures. (put/ebf)
