he Bangka Regencyin Bangka Belitung Islands province has announced its intention to use the agriculturesector to boost economic prosperity.
'We will utilize farming and other forms of agriculture to enhance our economic condition in line with our vision from the start,' said Bangka Regent Tarmidzi in Sungailiat on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
He then said the Bangka authorities planned to expand rice field areas in several villages in several subdistricts to meet the goal.
The local government also intends to provide free seeds and farming tools for the farmers.(atw/dic)
