oordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto says that Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam needs special attention to avoid the possibility of conflict in the province.
'By giving it special attention, we will be able to reduce the possibility of conflict during all stages of the 2014 election,' he said on the sidelines of a joint prayer at the Bajra Sandi Monument, Denpasar, Bali, on Sunday as quoted by Antara.
To prevent potential conflict, Djoko said the ministry, with support from the National Police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob), had beefed up security in Aceh to ensure that the legislative election in the province ran smoothly.
He hoped that the increased security measures would be effective in ensuring security in the province, which was often marred by violence.
Djoko further said that overall, stages of the election had run smoothly and safely.
'Although conflicts have occurred in several places, they cannot be used as a measure of the implementation of 2014 election nationwide,' said Djoko. (ebf)
