T Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi president director Theo Lekatompessy said late on Thursday that his only brother, Charles Tamtelahitu, 63, was among the deceased after pro-Russian Ukrainian separatists allegedly shot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 on Thursday, killing all 298 people on board.

The aircraft was en route from Amsterdam, the Netherlands to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"My mother passed away yesterday [Wednesday] and her burial is scheduled for tomorrow [Friday]. I went to get a ticket for my older only brother in order for him to be able to fly from Amsterdam to attend the burial [in Jakarta]. It only led to more grief," said Theo.

According the Transportation Ministry, there were 12 Indonesian citizens on board the plane. They have been identified as Hadiono Gunawan, Yodricunda Theistiasih, Ketut Wiartini, Yuli Hastini, Vickline Kurniati Kardia, Supartini, Hendry, Gerda Leliana Lahendra, Wether Smallenburg, Jane M Adi Soetjipto and Wayan Sujana, as well as one infant.
