ttorney General's Office (AGO) spokesman Tony Tri Spontana said his office has named the director of state-run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I, Tommy Soetomo, and another businessman, identified only as HL, as suspects in an alleged case of graft involving the procurement of five fire trucks worth Rp 63 billion (US$ 5.38 million).
'We have enough evidence that leads to their involvement with the case,' Tony said on Friday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Despite the two men being suspects, Tony said prosecutors had decided not to arrest and detain them, but he added that the AGO had asked immigration to prevent them from leaving the country during the duration of the investigation.
Tony said the AGO had been investigating this case since 2011 and had questioned a number of witnesses along the way. He said the prosecutors were still calculating how much the state had lost as a result of the incident.
Commenting on this, PT Angkasa Pura I corporate secretary Farid Indra Nugraha told tempo.co that the management was shocked by the prosecutors' decision to name the director as a suspect.
Farid said Tommy was never been summoned by the prosecutors during the investigation because of his ill health.
'But we will trust the prosecutors with the whole investigation,' he said. (dic)
