Indonesia is bracing itself for a new era under Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, who will take office as the seventh president on Oct. 20. But so is Jakarta, with Jokowi's departure from City Hall paving the way to the governor's seat for his deputy, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama.
New, however, does not necessarily mean better; it can be the other way around. (By Dwi Atmanta, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta)

Ahok was chosen by the Betawi people for his excellent management style. He listens well. He acts more and is effective without too much talk.

Listening needs action and action must have a pattern to be followed.
The pattern, however, is required for the purpose and shall stand on firm ground and is something expected to be impartial, fair and impersonal ' such as the Constitution.
Law is objective, something for anyone to refer to, but it is also the creation of elites, those who pose as regulators and legislators in society.
The definition of the 'truth and justice' must follow the elite's interpretation, so, where is the place for the poor?

Well, everyone wants to do as they please.
For instance, the poor would like to live in illegal dwellings so they don't need to pay utilities and
street vendors want to set-up shop on the roadsides so they can get customers more easily with almost no expense.
However, these behaviors are disrupting the needs of the general public, such as creating traffic jams and floods.
As such, laws must be enforced as per Ahok, otherwise everyone is free to disrupt the needs of the general public and break the law, doing as they please.
