resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has signed a number of presidential regulations regarding the dismissal of his government's Cabinet members who will be sworn in as members of the House of Representatives on Oct. 1.
'All outgoing ministers have handed in their resignation letters and we have already drafted the presidential regulations relating to that matter,' State Secretary Sudi Silalahi said in Washington DC on Thursday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Sudi explained that five ministers have handed in their letters, namely outgoing Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Cooperatives and Small Medium Enterprises Minister Syarif Hasan, Communication and Information Technology Minister Tifatul Sembiring, Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar and Disadvantaged Regions Development Minister Helmy Faisal.
'They will hold their positions until Sept. 30. Meanwhile, the interim Coordinating Economic Minister [Chairul Tanjung] will be the only minister who will finish his term,' Sudi said.
Chairul Tanjung was appointed as Coordinating Economic Minister in May, filling the position left vacant by Hatta Rajasa, who left to run for the vice president's position with losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.
Yudhoyono and his delegation are currently in Washington DC on an official state visit.
The president addressed the United Nations on Thursday regarding his achievements during his 10-year presidency and his assessment of regional and global security. (dyl/nfo)(++++)
