erindra Party patron Prabowo Subianto has asked legislators from Gerindra to attend the inauguration of Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf Kalla as Indonesia's 7th president and vice president on Oct. 20.
'I had ordered them to attend the inauguration and be nice during the ceremony long before Jokowi's visit today,' he said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
As for himself, Prabowo acknowledged that he had other important business abroad to attend to. However, he promised to attend the inauguration upon the completion of that business.
'Being invited means that this is mandatory for me to come. That is why I will do my best to finish my business as soon as I can so I can make the inauguration,' he said.
After having Jokowi, People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Zulkifli Hasan and three other deputy speakers Osman Sapta, Mahyudin and E. E. Mangindaan, had also visited Prabowo to deliver the invitation.
Many viewed the visit as Jokowi's attempt at reconciliation since he defeated Prabowo in the presidential election. (dic)(+++)
