AKARTA: Celebrity chef George Calombaris, a judge from the MasterChef Australia cooking contest show, visited Jakarta.

Jakarta was his last stop, after Singapore and Malaysia, on his Southeast Asia tour to promote the start of the show'€™s sixth season, aired by the Lifetime channel.

Chef Calombaris cooked up a special dinner for invitees, corporate clients and fans at On Five, Grand Hyatt Hotel in Central Jakarta on Thursday. The menu was selected by fans via the Lifetime website.

'€œI can'€™t wait to share my passion for food and to have a taste of local dishes, and learn about local cultures,'€ he said.

Melbourne-based Calombaris, 36, is a master of Greek cuisine, having learned from his mother, Mary, a Cyprian. He was named among 40 of the world'€™s most influential chefs by Global Food and Wine when he was 26.
