The 94-minute movie tells the story of a heroin addict who finds love on the streets of New York.

'€œThis movie is simple, but inspiring,'€ said James Gunn, a member of the judging panel, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, also said that the film had displayed good picture quality, story and acting.  

Heaven Knows What was just one of 15 movies vying to win the Tokyo Grand Prix worth US$ 50,000 after being initially screened in Venice, Italy. The film won best direction after it was screened by several judges in Toronto, Canada and New York. (alz)
