he West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) administration said it deplored the inadequate information provided by the government on the implementation of the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) and the Indonesia Health Card (KIS) programs President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo officially launched on Monday.
NTB governor TGH Zainul Majdi said no action to introduce the implementation of the KIP and KIS programs had taken place in the province since Jokowi first unveiled his plan to deliver a non-cash government assistance program through the issuance of the two new cards during the 2014 presidential election campaign.
'Definitely, we really appreciate the launch of the KIS and KIP, as well as the Prosperous Family Card (KKS) program. Up until now, however, no explanation has been provided by the central government on the implementation of the new cards,' Zainul said, as quoted by Antara news agency in Mataram on Monday.
He said as the representative of the central government, the NTB administration was fully aware of the big plan toward achieving prosperity for all Indonesians that Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla had introduced since their campaign.
However, Zainul said, the government should have provided detailed information about the KIP, KIS and KKS before the official launch of the three new cards so that there would have been no confusion among local administrations about the programs.
'What I can tell you is that we do hope that there would be explanations from the government about these three new cards. For instance, what is the difference between the National Health Insurance (JKN) program and the KIS, or between the Scholarship for the Poor (BSM) program and the KIP and what are the requirements the local administrations must fulfil so that the new programs can be successful instead of only showing an attractive ceremony on the national level but with poor end results?' asked Zainul.
President Jokowi launched the KIS and KIP programs at the Central Jakarta Post Office on Monday. The KIS is covered by a social assistance fund provided by the Social Affairs Ministry. In 2015, the government is aiming to deliver the KIS to 1.7 million beneficiaries from low-income families. (ebf)(++++)
