Kenya'€™s Lilan, Kihen win Borobudur Int'€™l 10K

unners from Kenya dominated the Borobudur International 10K race at Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java, on Sunday, with Kenedy Lilan taking first place in the men'€™s division and Peninah Kihen winning the women'€™s division.

Lilan finished in 29:35 to win the title, followed by fellow countrymen Ngaresosemi and Yulius Brotil, who finished in third at 29:47.

In the women'€™s division, Kihen crossed the finish line in 36:12 to take first place followed by Indonesians Lazeena Rahman at 57:58 and Miki Yokohama at 63:03.

Some 16,000 runners from countries such as Kenya, Singapore, Thailand, UK, Japan, Denmark and Indonesia participated in the race, which offered prize money totaling Rp 752 million (US$61,814).

The 10K race was a loop that started and finished at the Lumbini Park in the Borobudur complex.

'€œThe Borobudur 10K route has been approved by the IAAF [International Association of Athletics Federations]. The route will be used again for the same race within the next five years,'€ said Priatmaji, the secretary of the Magelang branch of the Indonesian Athletics Federation (PASI).
