ank Indonesia (BI) says about 82 percent of foreign exchange earnings from exports (DHE), both from banks and exporters, have entered Indonesia.

'€œForeign exchange earnings from exports we recorded from goods export notifications on the trade balance account for 82 percent,'€ BI deputy governor Perry Warjiyo said as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Indonesia'€™s export values amounted to US$15.35 billion in October, up by 0.49 percent from exports in the previous month. Compared to exports in October 2013, this year'€™s October exports declined by 2.21 percent, however.

As of October, BI has recorded 2,104 DHE reports from banks and 201,332 from exporters.

Perry said reported DHE values had continued to increase since BI required banks and exporters to report their DHE values. However, the central bank wanted to continuously increase DHE value reports in a number of sectors, particularly in the oil and gas sector; therefore, BI would increase coordination with the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, he added.

'€œWe still have to push several sectors to increase their DHE value reports, such as the oil and gas sector, in which only 67 percent of their DHE values have been reported,'€ said Perry.

He said the more DHE entered Indonesia, the higher foreign currency supplies would be available in the financial market, and this would eventually support the stability of the financial system in the country. (ebf)(+++)
