olkar'€™s splinter faction led by Agung Laksono has decided to change the party'€™s slogan from '€œGolkar'€™s voice is the people'€™s voice'€ to '€œThe people'€™s voice is Golkar'€™s voice'€ in a session during its national meeting (Munas) at Hotel Mercure, Ancol, Jakarta, on Sunday.

Session chairman Leo Nababan said party officials attending Munas Golkar in Ancol agreed to change the party slogan because they wanted to support the direct election of regional heads.

'€œWe have seen survey results showing that 82 percent of the Indonesian people want direct elections. The principle of '€˜Golkar'€™s voice is the people'€™s voice'€™ is just for the party elites,'€ said Leo as quoted by tribunnews.com, referring to his faction'€™s rivals led by Aburizal Bakrie, who was reelected as Golkar Party chairman for 2014-2019 in the ninth Munas Golkar in Bali last week.

Leo said the Munas in Ancol decided that Golkar fully supported the Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo-Jusuf Kalla administration and the decision would be reinforced in a plenary meeting.

Meanwhile, Tunas Indonesia Raya (Tidar), one of the wing organizations of the Gerindra Party, said indiscipline was a triggering factor that could lead to dissension in a political party. '€œDiscipline and obedience toward the party'€™s statutes are very important. This should be a political lesson for every person who is organized,'€ said Tidar chairman Aryo Djoyohadikusumo as quoted by Antara news agency. (ebf)
