akarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Unggung Cahyono will tour several churches on Wednesday evening to inspect security operations leading up to Christmas day celebrations on Thursday.
Chief of the Gubernatorial and Foreign Affairs bureau, Muhammad Mawardi, said Djarot's delegation would leave City Hall at 6.30 p.m. as part of the normal practice conducted by the Jakarta city administration each year.
'The deputy governor will bring along members of the SKPD DKI [Jakarta administration working units] and the Forkopimda [Regional Leadership Communication Forum] as part of the delegation, which will tour several churches in the city,' Mawardi said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Churches scheduled for a visit include Theresia Church and GKI Kwitang in Central Jakarta, the Santo Yoseph, GPIB Surya Kasih and Pondok Kopi churches in East Jakarta and the Tanjung Priok Salib Suci and Tugu Semper churches in North Jakarta.
Last year, then Jakarta governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo visited two churches, both in Menteng, Central Jakarta. (dyl/nfo)
