Five detainees escape police custody

As many as five detainees managed to escape from the detention center of the East Kalimantan Police headquarters in Balikpapan

As many as five detainees managed to escape from the detention center of the East Kalimantan Police headquarters in Balikpapan.

The East Kalimantan Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Ashadi said among the detainees was drug suspect Bambang Aspian who had been detained since Nov. 17 and motor vehicle theft suspect Bambang Budiono Sukanto who had been detained since Dec. 8.

Antara reported that the other fugitives were Maslani, Saidul and Supiyan who had been detained since Nov. 22 for their involvement in an arson case.

Ashadi said the suspects escaped from the detention center at 4:30 a.m. and ran into forest area near the police headquarters. '€œThey broke the iron bars of the detention cell by sawing them,'€ he added.
