usinessman Bader Aziz Alkatiri, who was a suspect in a corruption case involving the development of a bridge worth Rp 2.7 billion (US$216,753) in Seram Bagian Timur (SBT) regency, Maluku, has handed over the state losses of Rp 200 million to the Maluku High Prosecutors' Office.
'The money was handed over on Monday as is his responsibility as a director of developer PT Putra Seram Timur,' the prosecutors' office spokesman Bobby Palapia was quoted as saying by Antara on Tuesday.
Although Bader, who is also a councilor from the Prosperous Justice Party, has returned the money, Bobby said the case would be continued.
'The case would be brought to the court. The prosecutors would consider the return of the money, when they demand the sentence,' Bobby said.
Another suspect in the case from the regency's public works agency Nurdin Mony has also returned the state loss of Rp 600 million on Dec. 4. Both Bader and Nurdin have not been detained.
