hairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Hatta Rajasa said that he had not made up his mind about seeking reelection as party leader at the party's next congress, scheduled for 2015.
'Until now, I have not announced publicly whether or not I will run in the chairmanship race,' Hatta said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Hatta also said that he would allow young members and executives of PAN to join the race.
The former coordinating minister for the economy however declined to comment on the possibility that party executives at the planned national congress would unanimously elect him as party chairman.
'It doesn't matter if the new chairman is elected unanimously or through a vote, as long as he or she is the best candidate that we have,' Hatta said.
Hatta resigned from his position as minister in May last year to join the presidential ticket of Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto in the July 9 presidential election.
The ticket lost to former Jakarta governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla.
