resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said on Sunday that Singapore and Australia would participate in the search for the missing AirAsia aircraft carrying 162 people on board after the aviation authorities declared the plane missing between Surabaya, East Java, and Singapore.
"I've received calls from Singapore and Australia offering their help in the search mission," said Jokowi in Sorong, Papua.
The aircraft, with 155 passengers on board, including one Briton, one Malaysian, one Singaporean and three Koreans, as well as seven crew, lost contact with air traffic control at around 6:17 a.m. local time. The plane is reported to have requested an unusual route before it lost contact. (ren)
