hirty-four personnel from Riau Police headquarters were dishonorably discharged in 2014 for breaking the code of conduct and for their involvement in crimes.
Riau Police chief Brig. Gen. Dolly Bambang Hermawan said overall 487 personnel at Riau Police headquarters were involved in problems last year. This figure was higher than in 2013, when only 339 personnel faced problems.
'The degree of punishment is in accordance with the offense. After being processed by a code of conduct trial in line with existing regulations, the 34 police personnel were dismissed for committing severe offences and tarnishing the good name of the institution,' said Dolly on Thursday.
'As many as 49 other dishonest personnel will be transferred and demoted, while the remainder will be reprimanded,' added Dolly.
Twenty-three offenders are mid-level officers, 21 of them committed disciplinary actions and two others committed crimes. At the petty officer level, 37 have been processed for disciplinary actions or committing crimes.
