Three die after drinking bootleg liquor

hree Bekasi residents identified as Yanto, 34, Ki Bagus Suntara, 32, and Hermansyah, 39, died on Friday after drinking bootleg liquor (oplosan) on Thursday. Yanto and Bagus were motorcycle taxi drivers (ojek) while Hermansyah was a garbage dump truck driver.

'€œThey died on the same day,'€ Bekasi Police station spokesperson Adj. Comr. Siswo said on Saturday as quoted by kompas.com.

He said that according to testimony from a friend of the victims, Sulistyo, the four of them drank brandy mixed with a lemon-flavored soft drink at a motorcycle taxi post. They drank the bootleg liquor after working on New Year'€™s Eve.

Yanto died at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by Hermansyah at 6 p.m. and Bagus at 10 p.m. (***)
