T

he Bogor Botanical Gardens'€™ plant conservation center head, Didik Widyamoko, has said the park is guaranteeing both financial aid and Jasa Raharja insurance payments for visitors killed and injured when a tree fell at the gardens on Sunday.

'€œAll victims, both those killed and injured, will be covered by the Bogor Botanical Gardens and Jasa Raharja. There is no need for the victims'€™ families to worry,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency during a press conference at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Hospital in Bogor on Sunday.

Didik said all victims had been treated well. The incident response had been fast, allowing injured victims to access medical treatment immediately, he added.

Didik went on to say that the park management was working to ensure that all injured victims could be simultaneously treated at Bogor'€™s PMI Hospital.

'€œWe are making efforts so that all victims will be treated at the Bogor PMI Hospital so it will be easier for the families of the victims to coordinate activities related to the incident,'€ he said.

As reported earlier, four people were killed and 21 others injured when the tree fell on Sunday. Three of the dead victims were from Bogor regency while the fourth was a resident of Bogor city.

The victims were employees of automotive manufacturing company PT Asalta Mandiri Agung in Nanggewer, Cibinong, Bogor regency.

'€œThey were part of a family gathering event attended by a total of 180 employees of the company. They were gathering in a location on Jl. Astrid when the incident occurred,'€ said Didik.

He said two injured victims had returned home while the remaining 19 victims had to undergo in-patient medical treatment at the PMI Hospital. The gardens'€™ management had helped to return the bodies of the four dead victims to their family homes and was facilitating burials.

Activities at the Bogor Botanical Gardens remain normal after the incident.

Bogor Deputy Mayor Usmar Hariman visited the incident site and conveyed his deep condolences and sympathies to the families of the dead and injured victims. He gave his assurances that the Bogor administration would help accelerate assistance for all victims.

'€œThis incident has affected us all. We have coordinated with the Bogor Botanical Gardens, Bogor'€™s PMI Hospital and the [insurance] company. What is needed can be facilitated. The Bogor mayoral administration has prepared everything, including for the families of victims who might need transportation for burial processions,'€ said Usmar. (ebf)(+++)
