ransportation Minister Ignasius Jonan flew to Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, on Tuesday, ignoring an invitation from House of Representatives'€™ Commission V overseeing transportation to a hearing regarding the recent AirAsia incident.

'€œThe ministry'€™s secretary general [Santoso Eddy Wibowo] will represent him at the hearing,'€ ministry special advisor Hadi M. Djuraid said in Jakarta on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

Commission V head Fary Diemy Francis, however, said he was baffled by Jonan'€™s absence, because the invitation to attend the hearing was sent on Wednesday last week.

'€œThe search and rescue operations have been going on for 16 days in Pangkalan Bun and we need to get the first seven-day operation report directly from the minister,'€ Fary complained.

Despite Jonan'€™s absence, National Search and Rescue Agency (SAR) chief Air Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo and officials from the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) delivered their reports to the commission. (nfo)(+++)
