n a bid to prevent accidents during the rainy season, the South Jakarta Municipality Office will cut back 2,000 trees located adjacent to roads.
Ahmed, an official at the Parks and Cemeteries Agency's South Jakarta office, said on Tuesday that his office had identified over 2,000 trees liable to fall in bad weather.
'Most of the trees are located in Kebayoran Lama and Kebayoran Baru districts,' he said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Ahmed said most of the trees were over 20 years old and grew near busy roads.
'We will also cut back 30 trees on Jl. Duren Tiga Timur, as residents have complained that the branches hinder passing vehicles,' he said. (***)
