he Bekasi Police arrested a family of three for producing oplosan (bootleg liquor) during a raid in a house in East Bekasi, West Java, on Monday.
Bekasi Police chief detective Comr. Ujang Rohanda said DA, 41, EM, 39 and KDA, 20, were arrested based on information from customers.
'Initially we arrested four people, who then informed us of the location of the producer,' Ujang said as quoted by tempo.co on Monday.
The police also confiscated hundreds of liters of liquor packed in plastic bags, dozens of energy drinks, a 19-liter mineral water bottle and Rp 1.1 million (US$87) in cash.
According to Ujang, the family produced the bootleg liquor using energy drinks, soft drinks, 70 percent alcoholic drinks, sugar and water as the ingredients.
The bootleg liquor was distributed in different sizes of plastic bags, with the large size selling for Rp 20,000 and the small size for Rp 10,000.
Ujang said the Bekasi Police drug squad would take over the investigation. He said he could not confirm whether the bootleg liquor produced by the family was responsible for recent deaths in the area. (***)
