he narcotics directorate at the North Sumatra Police is pursuing members of a drug syndicate that allegedly trafficked 3 tons of marijuana from Aceh to Jakarta.
On Sunday, personnel from the Medan Police narcotics unit foiled an attempt to smuggle marijuana from Aceh to Jakarta by truck.
They stopped the truck as it was traveling along the Medan-Binjai highway in Sunggal district, Medan. Police then confiscated the contraband and impounded the truck at Medan Police headquarters on Jl. H.M. Said in Medan.
Medan Police narcotics unit chief Comr. Doni Alexander said police had arrested four suspects, all from Aceh, including the truck driver.
'Our team is currently in Aceh to investigate the case and arrest the drug syndicate members,' said Doni, adding that the marijuana drug bust was the biggest this year. (***)
