andung-based badminton club Sangkuriang Graha Sarana, better known as SGS PLN, has joined with Taufik Hidayat Arena (THA) to establish SGS PLN THA.
The 2004 Athens Olympic gold medalist Taufik Hidayat is one of the most successful athletes trained under SGS PLN. After retiring from badminton, he started managing his own badminton training center located at Jl. PKP no. 8, Kiwi Raya, Ciracas, East Jakarta.
'Our main program is advanced training at Taufik Hidayat Arena. All athletes that join the national training camp will train at the arena,' said SGS PLN's advisor Lutfi Hamid.
'SGS PLN is the club where I started my badminton career. I hope I can share my experience with future shuttlers at the arena,' Taufik said in a statement on Monday.
Aside from Taufik, SGS PLN produced other world-class shuttlers in Halim Haryanto, the 2000 men's doubles world champion, and Flandy Limpele, runner-up of the men's doubles event along with his then partner Eng Hian at the 2002 All England Championship.
