A

public opinion survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) has found that Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti is the best-performing minister in the Cabinet of President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo.

In its latest public opinion survey, conducted between Jan. 10 and Jan. 18, the Jakarta-based pollster found that 61 percent of 1,220 respondents thought that Susi had done a good job especially regarding her popular decision to crack down on illegal fishing activities by foreign fishermen.

No other minister in Jokowi'€™s Cabinet had a job-approval rating higher than that of Susi.

'€œOther than extensive media coverage, Susi is considered as a minister who can make policies that meet demands from the public,'€ said LSI executive director Kukrisdho Ambardi.

Other ministers who are also considered to be popular, like Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said, registered job-approval ratings lower than Susi.

Jonan won just 39.5 percent approval while Sudirman got only 33.7 percent.

The survey found that Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin was the second-most popular minister with 48.4 percent approval rating.

Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa came in third place with 48.3 percent while Culture, Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan came in fourth place with a 47.5-percent approval rating.

The survey, which was made public on Monday, in general found that people were satisfied with the performance of President Jokowi.

More than 55 percent of the 1,220 respondents said they were '€œquite satisfied'€ with the President'€™s performance in his first 100 days.

About 22.9 percent said that they were '€œnot quite satisfied'€ with Jokowi, while 2.9 percent said that they were '€œdisappointed'€.

Late last week Jakarta-based pollster the Populi Center also published findings from its latest round of public opinion surveys, saying that Jokowi had a high level of approval rating.

The pollster, which asked questions to respondents across the country'€™s 34 provinces, found that an overwhelming majority of people supported Jokowi'€™s administration.

The approval rating for Jokowi stood at 70.1 percent.

Late last month, a Social and Political Study Center (Puspol) Indonesia survey showed that 51 percent of respondents were losing faith in Jokowi'€™s presidency.

The survey also asked respondents to score, on a scale of one to 10, Jokowi'€™s communication skills and appearance.
