griculture Minister Amran Sulaiman says his institution will improve 100,000 hectares of land in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province to help support the government's food-security programs.
Amran said the ministry would provide free seedlings and fertilizer to farmers across the province.
He said the efforts were projected to boost crop production by 25 to 30 percent annually.
'I have told the NTB agriculture office head that we need to carry out this program immediately,' he said in Lombok on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
He was also scheduled to inspect an irrigation system in Aikmual village in Central Lombok during his visit on Wednesday.
In addition, the minister will hand over 1,637 hand tractors to help optimize crop production in the province. (***)
