he Indonesian Army is ready to support programs under the supervision of the Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Indroyono Susilo, deputy chief of the Army Lt. Gen. M. Munir said.
Munir made the remarks after meeting with Indroyono in Jakarta on Monday.
He said that in order to support the government's plan to add 35,000 megawatts to Indonesia's energy grid by building power plants, the Army was ready to cooperate by providing plots of land belonging to the Army to make way for the power projects.
Indroyono echoed Munir's remarks, saying that in the framework of developing 100 pioneer villages on border areas, especially those along seaboards, maritime components would be included in the projects.
The minister also asked the Army's deputy chief to make an inventory of ponds, lakes and dams located near military complexes that could be fully utilized for inland fish farming. (hhr)
