he Jakarta administration has instructed PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) to acquire 20 percent shares of the city's soccer club PT Persija Jaya Jakarta with the hope that the soccer club will be better managed.
Secretary to the Jakarta administration Saefullah said on Wednesday that there was also a possibility that the city administration would buy more than 20 percent of the shares.
'We have agreed that in the first phase the city administration will take 20 percent, 20 percent will be owned by the previous owner and 60 percent by the management. However, the situation can be changed and the administration could perhaps acquire 60 percent,' Saefullah said at City Hall as quoted by kompas.com.
However, he refused to elaborate on how much money the city administration had allocated for the transaction and added that there would be an internal audit conducted by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP). (***)
