our comments on the call from Air Force chief of staff Air Chief Marshal Agus Supriatna to the government to take over control of the Flight Information Region (FIR) over the Riau and Natuna islands, currently under the supervision of Singapore, to help achieve President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's maritime vision:
Let's implement proper ATC in the rest of the country before focusing on areas that already are taken care of [...] many areas don't have radar coverage at all as we saw when the Malaysian jet vanished after presumably passing over Sumatra and the role of Jakarta ATC in the AirAsia crash is also still an open question.

Well, look what we got here, another sign of Singapore becoming insignificant.
Please make sure that the takeover happens before 2019!

I personally believe the FIR over the Riau and Natuna islands at this stage should be in the coordinated hands of Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Together we can best coordinate what is peacefully right.
Our President's maritime vision is to correct the disorderly maritime situation in accordance with the law, for the welfare of our people, which is eventually for the good of all concerned.
The cooperation among the three nations shall bring the proper coordination if we are to establish the lasting maritime vision of our President ' the economic welfare of our people.

I agree on taking over the watch from Singapore. My only question is: Are we ready and prepared? I am just an old retired Air Force pilot.
