T

he chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry'€™s (Kadin) chapter in Donggala regency, Central Sulawesi, has been arrested for vandalizing the office of the daily Sulteng Post on Thursday.

Ahwan Ahmad was arrested at his home in South Palu. According to eyewitnesses, Ahwan led four men breaking into the office and damaging computers and Internet networks with a samurai sword.

Ahwan is facing charges of possessing an illegal weapon and property damage, which carry maximum penalties of 12 and five years in prison, respectively.

Palu Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Basya Radyananda said Ahwan was angry at the newspaper owner Tri Putra Toana because the newspaper'€™s name was similar to Ahwan'€™s now defunct daily Sulteng Pos.

Tri Putra said the names were different; his was Sulteng Post, while Ahwan'€™s was Sulteng Pos.
