n a bid to improve security, the Jakarta Police will conduct large-scale intensive raids targeted at firearms, weapons, explosive materials and drugs.

Jakarta Police chief Ir. Gen. Unggung Cahyono said on Saturday that the raids would be conducted every night.

Unggung said he called on all his personnel to revitalize crime and intelligence unit task forces, dubbed kring serse and kring intel in order to engage in preventive action.

Each kring serse and kring intel have the responsibility to liaise with and educate residents in crime-prone areas so that the residents can actively help the police when a crime occurs.

'€œThe personnel in certain areas can directly respond and enforce the law when something happens,'€ he said, as quoted by tribunnews.com. (***)
