akarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul said on Wednesday that Express Taxi driver, Tony Zahar, 53, was found dead in his vehicle on Jl. Raya Rawa Bambu, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

Tony was discovered face down in the driver'€™s seat on Wednesday by an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver at 5:30 a.m., Martinus said.

"A preliminary investigation disclosed that the victim had wounds on the neck and pinkie finger," Martinus said as quoted by tempo.co.

The victim's body was rushed to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for a postmortem examination. The case is being investigated by the Pasar Minggu Police, he said.

At the time of the finding of the victim's body, traffic in the area slowed to a standstill when motorists slowed down to see what was going on.

The secretary of PT Express Group, Merry Anggraini, confirmed that Tony was one of the company's drivers. She said she had no information on the cause of death.

"We're still checking the chronology, after locating the driver's last position," she said. (hhr)
