abinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto says President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is preparing a government regulation in lieu of law (perppu) on the appointment of acting Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders after the police named two of its commissioners suspects in two different cases.
'The option of issuing a perppu on the appointment of acting KPK leaders is being prepared. It is still being processed,' he said at the Presidential Palace here on Wednesday.
Andi added that State Secretary Pratikno was accompanying the President in preparing the draft perppu. He declined to mention when the perppu would be issued.
'Wait and see. It will not take long,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Meanwhile, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who was on its way to the Presidential Palace, gave a political gesture that the palace would make an important announcement today in connection with the escalating conflict between the police and the KPK.
'No news at midday but this afternoon. Be prepared,' he told journalists covering the Presidential Palace.
The public is waiting for the President's decision on police chief hopeful Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan's fate following a court decision on Monday that annulled his suspect status.
The President is also expected to take measures to make the police stop criminalizing the KPK leaders and its investigators. (rms)(++++)
