ilipina death-row drug convict Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso is facing uncertainty over her planned execution, according to a spokesperson for the Yogyakarta Prosecutor'€™s Office, Zulkardiman.

Veloso was among those on death row scheduled to be executed in the near future on the Nusakambangan prison island, Cilacap regency, Central Java.

Zulkardiman said that until now no information had been given by the Supreme Court regarding Veloso'€™s execution date. '€œBut we continue preparing for the administrative requirements,'€ he said on Thursday.

Veloso, 27, was arrested as she was trying to smuggle 2.6 kilograms of heroin through Yogyakarta Adisutjipto Airport on April 24, 2010.

Zulkardiman also said that after her request for clemency was rejected by President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo, Veloso filed for a judicial review (PK) with the Sleman District Court several weeks ago, later to be filed with the Supreme Court.

'€œWhatever the PK yields, it will not stop the execution from being done because the President had turned down the clemency request,'€ he said.
