H

eavy downpour over Sarolangun regency has caused landslides on a cliff along the Sarolangun'€“Batang Asai highway, paralyzing traffic on the route as debris covered the road from Bukit Rayo to Muaro Suban in Jambi.

Landslides were found to have occurred in 30 spots along the route; 16 of them were severe.

'€œAs a result, no vehicle can pass through the route,'€ Batang Asai district head Suryadi said on Thursday, adding that the landslides had occurred a day earlier.

He said the district administration and locals had tried to clear the debris from the road. The Sarolangun Public Works Agency had also deployed heavy equipment to help reopen the road.
