P

resident Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo installed Taufiequrahman Ruki, Johan Budi Sapto Pribowo and Indriyanto Seno Aji as acting leaders of the Corruption Commission Eradication (KPK) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.

Taufiequrahman was installed as the temporary KPK chairman, with Johan and Indriyanto as acting deputy chairmen, based on Presidential Decree No. 14-16 P/2015, to replace KPK chairman Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto, who were named suspects by the police just days after the two named National Police chief candidate Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan a bribery suspect, tempo.co reported.

Jokowi dropped the nomination of Budi as the National Police chief on Wednesday and replaced him with police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti.

At Friday's ceremony, Jokowi also deactivated Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto from their positions as chairman and deputy chairman of the KPK, respectively.

Ruki is a retired two-star police general, who lead the KPK in 2003-2007. Indriyanto is a lawyer with the Cendana family and Bank Century as two of his big clients, while Johan is the deputy for the KPK'€™s prevention unit.

Ruki, Indriyanto and Johan will lead the KPK together with two existing commissioners - Zulkarnaen and Adnan Pandu Praja, until December 2015 when the appointment of the KPK's new commissioners will be made. (hhr)
