he Sukabumi Military District Command in West Java suspects that the Islamic State (IS) movement, also known as ISIS, is disseminating views and recruiting members in its legal area.
"According to our intelligence reports, there are several groups, which are believed to have recruited and disseminated ISIS view here, and we are closely monitoring their existence," Sukabumi Military District Commander Lt. Col. Sarifudin told Antara news agency on Monday.
He explained that some members were local residents who had attempted to go to Syria, but their efforts were foiled.
In their attempts to go to Syria and Iraq, the recruiters acted as if they wanted to visit relatives in Malaysia, before continuing their journey to their destination countries, he said.
He said that his district command had a list of suspected IS members, but declined to give further details on the number of people or their whereabouts. (hhr)
