The midfielder set up Sporting's first goal in the 52nd minute which Junya Tanaka netted.
Nani, on loan from Manchester United, scored another the second in the 68th with a strike from outside the area.
Sporting closed to within two points of second-placed FC Porto before it visits Boavista on Monday.
Arouca also beat Rio Ave 1-0, while Academica won 2-1 at Estoril. Those results pushed Penafiel back down to the bottom of the table. (***)
