Despite recent gestures of rapprochement, the National Police has decided to proceed with its dual investigations into former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto.
National Police crime investigation director Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso said on Sunday that reconciliation efforts between the two institutions following President Jokowi's twin moves to appoint acting KPK commissioners and cancel the inauguration of National Police Education Division (Lemdikpol) chairman Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as National Police chief would not influence its investigation into Abraham, who has been named a suspect for forgery, and Bambang, who has been named a suspect for perjury.
Your comments:
The key issue here is the presidential order to both police and KPK to refrain. This has been ignored and disobeyed. It has eroded the power and prestige of the presidency. And police generals like Budi Waseso should be hauled up to face tribunal. Why is this not done?
The people not only reject Budi Gunawan as the police chief. The people want him thoroughly investigated and charged and jailed for life like Akil Mochtar! That is what the 52 percent who voted for Jokowi want.

It will hurt the image of both the police (especially!) and the KPK. Forget this and please concentrate on more important things; there are a lot, right?! I will never forget my 'bribery/corruption' experience with a local police officer.

What if the Supreme Court does rule against Budi but he and the police do a 'Gereja Yasmin' and simply ignore an inconvenient Supreme Court ruling? What if he simply ignores all summonses to the newly emasculated KPK and to court?
