ttorney General Prasetyo said preparations for the execution of death-row convicts in Nusakambangan prison island, Central Java, were 95 percent complete.

'€œThe remaining 5 percent concerns evacuation and other matters,'€ he said.

He underlined that all 12 death-row convicts detained in Bali, Madiun, Yogyakarta and Riau, would be transferred to Nusakambangan and they would be placed in isolated cells.

Two Australians, Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, members of the so-called Bali Nine, who were included on the list of 12 death-row convicts to be executed, were scheduled to be moved from the Kerobokan Prison in Denpasar, Bali, to Nusakambangan today or Wednesday.

He said his side had coordinated with the Law and Human Rights Affairs Ministry and security authorities to transfer all convicts to the island.

'€œFollowing the convicts'€™ transfers, we will set the execution date. We will be especially cautious during all phases of the execution,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

Separately, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly concurred but said the government has yet to decide whether Brazilian Rodrigo Gularte, who has a mental illness, would be executed or not.

He however said that the law did not say anything about the execution of death-row convicts that have mental illnesses.

'€œWe will see later. A team from the Attorney General'€™s Office will assess the real condition in the field and decide from there,'€ he said. (rms)(+++)
